Ⅰ. Understand the coolant water pump

The coolant water pump is an important part of the car engine system. In the cylinder block of the car engine, there are many water channels for cooling water circulation, which are connected with the radiator (commonly known as the water tank) placed in the front of the car through water pipes to form a large The water circulation system of the engine is equipped with a water pump at the upper water outlet of the engine, which is driven by the fan belt to pump out the hot water in the water channel of the engine block and pump in the cold water.

There is also a thermostat next to the coolant auto electric water pump. When the car is just started (cold car), it is not turned on, so that the cooling water does not pass through the water tank, but only circulates in the engine (commonly known as small circulation). When the temperature of the engine reaches 95°C When it is above, it is opened, the hot water in the engine is pumped into the water tank, and the cold wind blows through the water tank when the car is moving forward, taking away the heat.

Ⅱ. How does the coolant water pump work?

Centrifugal water pumps are widely used in automobile engines, and their basic structure is composed of water pump housings, connecting discs or pulleys, water pump shafts and bearings or shaft-connected bearings, water pump impellers, and water sealing devices. The engine drives the water pump bearing and the impeller to rotate through the pulley. The coolant in the coolant water pump is driven by the impeller to rotate together. Under the action of centrifugal force, it is thrown to the edge of the water pump thermostat housing. At the same time, a certain pressure is generated, and then flows out from the water outlet or water pipe. The pressure at the center of the impeller decreases due to the coolant being thrown out, and the coolant in the water tank is sucked into the impeller through the water pipe under the action of the pressure difference between the pump inlet and the center of the impeller to realize the reciprocating circulation of the coolant.

Ⅲ. How to maintain the coolant water pump?

1. First use the sound to determine whether the bearing is in good condition. If the sound is abnormal, the bearing needs to be replaced.

2. Disassemble and check whether the impeller is worn. If worn, it will affect the flow head efficiency and need to be replaced.

3. Check whether the mechanical seal can continue to be used, if it cannot be used, it needs to be replaced

4. Check whether the oil tank is short of oil, if there is a lack of oil, add it to the appropriate position.

Of course, it is difficult for ordinary car owners to complete the above steps, and it is difficult to maintain and repair the coolant water pump by themselves.
